LEGO PlayStation: the 72306 set, LEGO games on PS5 and buyer's guide

The official LEGO PlayStation set (72306) is a 1,911-piece model of the original PlayStation console and controller that went on sale on 4 October 2026 for $179.99.[1][2] "LEGO PlayStation" can also mean LEGO video games on PlayStation, such as Sony's own LEGO Horizon Adventures and 2026's LEGO Batman - Legacy of the Dark Knight.[3][4]

“LEGO PlayStation” can mean two things: LEGO building sets based on PlayStation, and LEGO video games you play on a PlayStation. The first official LEGO PlayStation set was revealed on 3 September 2026.[1] This guide covers that set, the other PlayStation-themed LEGO products, and LEGO games on PS5.

How this guide works: ContentLora does no hands-on testing. We compare the published specifications and prices with what independent reviewers reported, and cite every claim. We did not build the set or play the games for this guide.

    The LEGO PlayStation set (72306)

The LEGO PlayStation is a 1,911-piece model of the original grey PlayStation console and its first controller.[1] It is a display piece for adults: LEGO describes it as a near 1:1 scale replica, about 6 cm high, 26 cm wide and 19 cm deep.[5] The Open and Power buttons work, the controller plugs into the console, and opening the case reveals small buildable scenes from Gran Turismo and Ape Escape.[6]

    What reviewers say

Two independent reviews published around launch reached different overall conclusions.

    • GamesRadar+ called it a wonderful display piece with clever working buttons.[7] It praised the printed design pieces but noted 15 small stickers in the dioramas, some fiddly sections, and buttons that can jam if pressed too hard.[8] Its reviewer took about eight hours to build the console and another hour for the controller.[9] GamesRadar+ disclosed that its review set came from a PR company working for LEGO.[10]
    • Jay’s Brick Blog found it a convincing display piece but probably the weakest of LEGO’s scale video game console sets so far. It cited an Open button that tended to stick.[11] It also pointed out a mismatch: Ape Escape was the first PlayStation game to require the analogue DualShock, but the set’s controller has no analogue sticks.[12] Its reviewer built the set in about four to five hours.[13]

    Who should buy it

    • Good fit: PlayStation fans who want an interactive display model. Both reviewers rated it as a display piece, and the buttons, plug-in controller and removable dioramas are its main draws.[7][11]
    • Think twice: buyers on a budget. GamesRadar+ pointed to the LEGO Game Boy (72046) and the LEGO Sega Genesis set as cheaper alternatives.[8]
    • Detail purists may notice that the set pairs an Ape Escape scene with a controller that lacks analogue sticks.[12]

Prices are as announced by LEGO for launch on 4 October 2026; retailer prices may differ.[2]

    Other PlayStation LEGO sets

Sony’s Horizon series also has a LEGO set. Aloy & Varl vs. Shell-Walker & Sawtooth, based on the game LEGO Horizon Adventures, went on sale on 1 March 2025.[14]

LEGO Horizon Adventures was co-developed by Guerrilla Games and Studio Gobo with the LEGO Group and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.[18] It supports couch and online co-op.[19] Critics praised its looks and voice acting but criticised repetitive levels.[20] As of 10 October 2026 it was listed at $39.99 and included in the PlayStation Plus Extra catalogue.[15]

LEGO Batman - Legacy of the Dark Knight comes from TT Games and Warner Bros. Games. Game Informer’s PS5 review called its mechanics the most complex of any LEGO game. It praised the combat and open-world Gotham and noted inconsistent stealth and minor bugs.[17]
