How we use AI
Last updated 2026-10-10T00:00:00.000Z
We use AI as a research and drafting assistant. People make every publishing decision.
What AI does
- Monitors permitted news and official feeds for developments in the topics we cover.
- Gathers sources and drafts claims: short, checkable statements, each linked to its sources.
- Drafts page text that cites those claims, plus titles, descriptions, image alt text and reader Q&As.
- Runs self-checks: every factual sentence must cite a claim, and every claim must have a source.
What humans do
- A human editor reviews every draft in full: the text, sources, title, search description, alt text, structured data and Q&As.
- The editor approves, asks for changes, or rejects the draft. Only approved pages are published, and each records when it was reviewed.
- Pages on sensitive subjects (living people, health, finance, politics, allegations) get stricter sourcing rules.
What we don’t do
- We don’t publish AI output without human review.
- We don’t use AI to invent quotes, sources or facts. Every claim must trace to a real source you can open.
- We don’t mass-produce thin pages to chase search traffic.
- We don’t offer AI chat answers that aren’t grounded in our reviewed claims.
Why we work this way
AI helps a small team cover a lot of ground quickly. Human review keeps that speed from costing accuracy. Showing the source for every claim means you don’t have to trust either of us: you can check.
